Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED; or
- Six to 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute, rate, ratio, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25lbs and occasionally up to 50lbs
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Cook and other staff in preparing and serving meals in accordance with required menus, number of persons to be served, recipes, portion guides, and food sanitation regulations.
- Wash and sterilize serving trays, dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils. Clean sinks, equipment, appliances, and cooking and serving areas.
- Prepare meals for home delivery
- Serve meals
- Assist with compliance to standards and procedures of food storage, preparation, and service; equipment and overall sanitation; and employee safety.
- Tastes, smells, and observes food to ensure conformance with recipes and appearance standards.
- Prepare and oversee meal production
- Oversee food rotation (FIFO) and maintenance of storage room
- Wash and hang dish towels and aprons.
- Wrap silverware.
- Use appropriate kitchen appliances and equipment (slicer, mixer, etc.)
- Receive and store food and supplies according to procedures
- Label and date all food containers before storing.
- Keep storage areas clean and in order. (dry and cold spaces)
- Check refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily.
- Prepare for next day’s meals.
- Assist with recordkeeping and reports
- Perform job duties in an ethical manner
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Keep up to date and knowledgeable about applicable policies, procedures and regulations of specific programs, as assigned.
- Attend required staff meetings, training, and conferences
