A beloved staff member, Debbie Gillespie retired last month after almost 38 years of service at CareLink. In her time with the organization, Debbie served as a Care Coordinator, Care Coordinator Manager and, finally, as Outreach Manager. She reflects on her time with us at CareLink and what has kept her motivated all these years.
“It has been a privilege and an honor to be a part of CareLink’s mission,” Debbie began. “I have always loved older people and have a passion for serving others. The CareLink team, both leadership and staff, are serious about helping people age well and remain in their homes as long as possible. It has been such a tremendous experience to work with a group of people that share the same passion.”
When Debbie began working at CareLink over 37 years ago, the Care Coordination Department was only a pilot program. We now serve over 15,000 older people in Central Arkansas and have thousands of success stories – many thanks to Debbie Gillespie. “I know CareLink has an even brighter future ahead,” she predicts.
“I always get excited to help people!” Debbie explains. “My favorite part of my job has always been watching someone’s eyes brighten up when they learn that they will be able to receive the services they need to stay in their own homes. I strive to form relationships with the people I meet and be there for them when the time comes. There is always something you can help with.”
“It is with a heartfelt sadness that I prepare for my last day at work,” she continues. “I will miss the day to day contact with my CareLink family and the joy that comes with serving seniors. However, I’m looking forward to a positive retirement experience. I hope to still help at least one person every day.”
